One of our volunteers was a helicopter pilot during the Vietnam War. His squadron rescued US pilots downed behind enemy lines. He told us that we essentially did the same thing, but rescued veterans shot down by life. We told our men and the analogy stuck. We launched the PVCH in 1994, hence 94th. He flew with an Air Rescue Squadron, we're in a sense a Land Rescue Platoon.

And Sid the black sheep? We came up with that ourselves.
