Our Services

The Philadelphia Veterans Comfort House works in conjunction with the Veterans Affairs Medical Center and Veterans Service Organizations to provide a home away from home for patients while they are undergoing treatment for serious health issues.

We also offer shelter, meals, support and administrative liaison for homeless veterans while they seek to rebuild their lives.

what our guests & colleagues say

“I was treated very well at the House and with respect by everyone. I have nothing but good things to say and to remember about my stay at The Comfort House. Thank you and God bless you all.” – Richard T. Edwards, Sr., US Navy, VA patient

“…I found myself homeless, jobless and hopeless, and no answers in sight.  I was new to the city and all alone, with no one to call friend. While making an effort to get help, I was lucky enough to find some calm in the storm at the PVCH…I’m now gainfully employed, I work at PECO, as a customer Rep. and weekends as a sub-contractor…the staff has somehow made it feel like a home, a place to be safe.”  - Barry Thornton, USAF

“I made a lot of friends here. The back to work program with Hope Heffner was instrumental in getting me back to work.” - Wayne White, USAF

“I had a few concerns about living in Philly.  The friendly, helpful personnel quickly changed my mind.  The home was well organized and clean.  Good people, friendly conversation and great meals.  A friendly, comfortable place to stay during my treatments.” - Ron Franya, US Army, VA patient

“Great place; great people.  This was my second stay at the Comfort House. Great organization.” – Fred Delaney, US Army

“The Comfort House provides a caring comfortable stay in a home setting and gives a sense of brotherhood with other veterans facing crises in their lives.” – Kathryn Hough, Guest, Spouse of Douglas Hough, US Army

“The PVCH is professionally run. However, the staff made me feel like a member of the family. With pride that shows, the facilities are clean and the meals were wonderful. Thank you PVCH.” – Stephen Zussman, US Army, VA patient

“The PVCH has not only helped our father, who is a veteran, but has also gone out of their way to assist our entire family. The kindness and sincerity that we received from the staff and volunteers went above and beyond what we could have expected. This is a great place, and a great asset to veterans in the Philadelphia area.” – Erin Linker and Brianna Linker-Brickley, daughters of Robert Linker, USAF

“It has been my distinct pleasure to coordinate projects with The Philadelphia Veterans Comfort House and David Kamioner. What a dedicated, professional group of people worthy of honor. We love our heroes!” – Lisa Mathisen, Artbrands LLC

“Having volunteered with the PVCH in a variety of situations, I have always been amazed at the professionalism, respect and decency the gentlemen living in the house have towards guests and each other. It is always my pleasure to help them out in anyway I can. Visiting the Philadelphia Museum of Art with a couple of the men on a Saturday afternoon produced amazing conversations and a learning experience for everyone - myself especially. I know I am always going to leave the PVCH with a smile on my face and a feeling that I've done good work for some very deserving and appreciative gentlemen.” – Madeline Adams

“My stay at the Comfort House was enjoyable…The House is very well organized…Food is excellent, living and sleeping conditions very good. I think I made some good friends here and pray for everyone I've met…Thank you for having me. I wish you all the best.” – David Eckert, USMC, VA patient

“…I have learned so much about these brave and courageous men, and I have an even greater respect for our veterans and the tremendous sacrifice they've given to our community and country. I couldn't possibly end without mentioning my admiration for David Kamioner and George Roache for their part in running such a successful, supportive, and very necessary home away from home.” – Ayenda Lambert
